The Tompkins Sustainability Map provides a visual interface for people interested in learning more about the local sustainability movement.  The Map allows visitors to quickly search 16 categories of sustainable living for local programs and activities, and provides a link to the Green Resource Hub Directory of regional green businesses.  Graphic designer Jim Houghton created the visual interface of sustainability icons in the Tompkins County area, and Data Momentum connected the links from the Map to the underlying database developed by Gay Nicholson and others.  The goals for the Map were to reduce the time devoted by ST personnel in answering inquiries about local sustainability groups, and to provide a unique guide to the local movement for new volunteers, interested media, and potential funders.  The Map can be viewed at http://maps.sustainabletompkins.org/.  Over 100 local groups are now on the Map.
