A Clean Energy Future for Everyone

Climate change and income inequality are big problems. That’s why it’s great when we can do something about both at the same time! Our Finger Lakes Climate Fund helps local lower-income families with gap financing for home energy efficiency improvements.

Reduce your fossil energy use, and then offset the rest. It’s surprisingly affordable and only takes a few minutes!

Walking Their Talk on Fracking

It’s Easier with a Team

Sustainable Tompkins created the Energy Challenge in 2009 as the fight against fracking in NYS geared up. We believed that most of the folks showing concern about gas drilling were also interested in living more sustainably – but how could we prove it? How could we demonstrate that we “walk our talk” when it comes to opposing drilling for natural gas?

Our online pledge platform gave homeowners, renters, and businesses customized checklists and links for how they could wean themselves from fossil fuel use for electricity, hot water, heating, transportation, and food consumption. Several hundred local residents took the Energy Challenge and many of them are now both activists against fossil fuel build-out and ambassadors for low-carbon lifestyles.

We continue to provide leadership and support for overcoming our dependency on fossil fuel through our community partnerships and service.
