The Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute (FLPCI) received money from Sustainable Tompkins for two scholarships to its 2010 “Community Training in Ecological Design,” held on ten Thursday evenings February – May at the Southside Community Center. Two local residents who could not otherwise attend were able to participate in the training which taught gardening, water management, soil building, forestry, composting, and community organizing skills to 28 students from around the Finger Lakes region. FLPCI appreciates the support from Sustainable Tompkins, Ithaca College, and the Southside Community Center in making the course accessible for more residents in the community.
